After graduating from Notre Dame de Sion High School, Esra Özkorkmaz Yıldırım earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Boğaziçi University in 1998. Yıldırım, who worked in the corporate sector for a time, held senior management positions in marketing at various national and international companies. Following her relational and managerial experiences in the corporate world, she completed her master’s degree in the Couple and Family Therapy program at Özyeğin University. In addition to the various seminars and supervision sessions she attended, she received certificate-level training, including the Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy Training supported by ICEEFT (International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy)-supported Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy Training, the Satir Couples and Family Therapy certification program accredited by the Satir Pacific Institute, EMDR Level I, and the Psychoanalytic Couples Therapy certification program (Tavistock Institute Model). Yıldırım began her clinical work at the Couples and Family Center at Özyeğin University; she worked as a volunteer psychologist with couples and individuals at the Kartal Municipality Family Center; and she conducted play therapy sessions with children as an intern psychologist at the Galip Öztürk Sevgi Evleri Children’s Home, affiliated with the Ministry of Family and Social Policies. She has served as a trainer in various projects organized by the Yöret Foundation aimed at empowering parents from disadvantaged groups. From 2020 to 2025, she worked as a psychotherapist at the Seyir Psychology and Counseling Center. In her clinical practice, she integrates systemic, emotion-focused, and psychoanalytic couple therapy models. She continues to provide individual and couples counseling for adults at Tin Us Psychology.
